Nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” is breathed through the nose. Patients with mild anxiety experience a relaxing and euphoric state during their surgery. You are still fully awake and once the mask is removed, the effects of nitrous will cease and you will experience no aftereffects.

IV sedation is effective for patients with mild to moderate anxiety and is our most common option. Administered intravenously, patients experience a deep level of relaxation and comfort. You will be responsive during surgery but will most likely not remember your appointment.

General anesthesia, or medically induced unconsciousness, is often recommended for complex, time-consuming surgeries. In our accredited surgical facilities, we have the resources and technology to offer general anesthesia, with a nurse anesthetist on-staff to monitor you during surgery.
